Nasdaq Open To Creating Cryptocurrency Exchange, CEO Says
Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman told CNBC’s Squawk Box Wednesday that the company could open a cryptocurrency exchange in the future. This is contingent upon regulation within the space becoming more concrete as the space matures.
In the meantime, the Nasdaq is supporting existing cryptoexchanges.
The company also announced a collaboration with cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, founded by early bitcoin investors Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss.
Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss said in a statement “The deal gives Gemini access to Nasdaq’s surveillance technology to help make sure the platform provides a fair and “rules-based marketplace,” for their own participants.”
